This region of the Chattahoochee Trace was an early educational, transportation and manufacturing center. Today these important cultural institutions are still very much in evidence in the War Eagle area. In addition, many forms of recreational activity may be enjoyed by the visitor who demands quiet, secluded and scenic vacation spots. Complementing these outdoor attractions are numerous historic sites which will appeal to even the most discriminating history buffs. War Eagle country is in the vanguard of the preservation movement in the Southeast. Old South traditions and New South innovations are a way of life for the hospitable people who have made this region their home. The attractions below may be seen during a period of two days with Auburn, Lanett or Opelika, Alabama, serving as the lodging and restaurant base for the tour.
